E-Publishing Division Writers
Writers for the E-Publishing Division have the opportunity to publish News and Feature, Op-Ed, and Media Review articles that are read by hundreds of scholars per day. Our recent mention in Science Magazine reflects our success in publishing interesting, informative, and unique articles.News articles are 100-200 words, describe major recent breakthroughs or events in science or law, and are published every 2 weeks. Feature, Op-Ed, and Media Review articles are 500-1000 words and are published every 4 weeks. Feature articles comment on the societal impacts, ethical issues and/or underlying scientific principles of a recent scientific issue or breakthrough. Op-Ed pieces also focus on an ethical, social, or scientific issue, but are also augmented with persuasive language and personal opinions. Media Review articles discuss the societal, ethical, and scientific implications of a book, documentary, or film. If interested in applying to be a writer or editor for the E-Publishing Division, please contact Kate Neafsey, Editor in Chief.
E-Publishing Division Multimedia Initiative Staff:Members of the Multimedia Initiative will have the opportunity to use their creativity and learn graphics, recording, and production techniques to publish E-Publishing Division articles as exciting audio slide show features. (Please see “Alzheimer’s Disease” on www.thetriplehelix.org for an example.) As this is a new initiative, leadership and staff positions are currently open. Computer and graphics skills are not required, only a desire to learn. If interested in joining the Multimedia staff, please contact Nikhil Shyam, Director of Multimedia Affairs.
Associate Editors
Associate Editors are responsible for editing articles. You will be interacting directly with two to three writers to advise on style, content and grammar of the articles they submit. This is a vital role which will also fit into busy schedules if you are interested in TTH but are afraid you may not have the time for it.
IT Officer
The standard role of an IT officer is to be in charge of the chapter website, developing innovative designs and ways to streamline article submission, review, etc; but with the recent emergence of the Internet as a vital marketing tool, you’ll be working with the marketing taskforce to develop our online presence, too.
Writers
Last but not least, the backbone of any publication team. This is not a committee position, but if you would like to contribute articles to TTH (on any subject related to science and society) or if you have an idea for an article, please do not hesitate to contact us at the email address given below.
For more information about any of the roles, please do not hesitate to get in touch with either Jen (President), or Meera (Editor-in-Chief). For insight into the kind of articles published by TTH, do visit the global TTH website.
